Sowin [ˈsɔvin] (German: Sabine) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Łambinowice, in Nysa County, Opole Voivodeship, in south-western Poland.[1] It lies approximately 6 kilometres (4 mi) east of Łambinowice, 22 km (14 mi) north-east of Nysa, and 26 km (16 mi) southwest of the regional capital Opole.

Before 1945 the area was part of Germany (see Territorial changes of Poland after World War II).

The village has an approximate population of 400.

Notable residents

  • Richard Thomalla (1903—1945), Nazi SS officer and Holocaust perpetrator executed for war crimes
