Taul Bradford (January 20, 1835 – October 28, 1883) was a U.S. Representative from Alabama and Officer in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War.[1]

Early life

Born in Talladega, Alabama to Jacob Tipton Bradford (1807 - 1866) and Louisiana Taul Bradford (1808 - 1863).[2] Bradford attended the local school and later graduated from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa in 1854 studying law. He was admitted to the bar in 1855 and started practice in Talladega.[1]

He served in the Confederate States Army as major of the Tenth Regiment, Alabama Infantry, and subsequently became lieutenant colonel of the Thirtieth Regiment, Alabama Infantry.[1][3][4]

Political career

He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1871 and 1872. Bradford was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-fourth Congress (March 4, 1875 – March 3, 1877). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1876.[1]

Later life

He continued the practice of law in Talladega, until his death on October 28, 1883. He was interred in the town's Oak Hill Cemetery.[1][2]
