The flag of Bago Region depicts a hamsa on a blue background. The name "Bago Division" (ပဲခူးတိုင်း) is written underneath the bird, despite the region no longer bearing that name. The former flag of Mon State is very similar to the flag of Bago Region, but its hamsa and text have different proportions and designs.

In local legend, the city of Bago was established on the location where a hamsa sought refuge during a massive flood, hence the adoption of the bird on the flag.[1]
