Mangapapa is a suburb of the New Zealand city of Gisborne. It is located in the north of the city. Whataupoko lies to the southeast and Te Hapara to the south, separated from Mangapapa by the Taruheru River.

Gisborne Hospital is located in Mangapapa, as was the former Cook Hospital.[1] In 2006, the New Zealand census calculated the total population of the Mangapapa suburb to be 4,263.[2]

Education

Mangapapa School is a state coeducational contributing primary school.[3] The school was opened 1903.[4] In 2019 it had a decile rating of 5 and a roll of 498.[5][6]
