Evwreni is an oil-producing community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State ... It has about 14 oil wells, glow and compressor stations operated by the SPDC, which produces 15,000 barrels of crude daily from the area since 1996 (31 Jan. 2000). It is 154.6 kilometres by road to Port Harcourt and 45.3 kilometres to Warri. In January 2000, there was a misunderstanding between the youth, oil companies and the King of Evwreni. Due to the situation, the youth dragged the King through the whole town from a car to his death and killed a chief who opposed them. This led to a lot of companies leaving Evwreni and the current underdevelopment. But peace was later brought back when an evangelist came to settle the dispute between the youth and the King's brother.
