- 1900 – Second Boer War: Lieutenant T W.R. Watson of the New South Wales Mounted Rifles rode into Pretoria to demand the immediate surrender of the Boer forces there.
- 1944 – World War II: The Royal Australian Air Force took part in its last major air battle of the war when 15 P-40Ns from No. 78 Squadron attacked 15 Japanese aircraft shooting down 10 aircraft for the loss of a single P-40.
