Alex Noerdin (born September 9, 1950) has been the Governor of South Sumatra[1] since 7 November 2008. Previously he served as regent in Banyuasin for 2 consecutive periods (2001–2006 and 2007–2012). On June 14, 2008, in the second period of his tenure, he resigned associated with his candidacy as governor of South Sumatra in the local elections from 2008 to 2013 period. He was born in Palembang, South Sumatra.

His second term ended slightly earlier than scheduled on 21 September 2018, and he was replaced by Herman Deru.[2]
