The Good Doctor is author Damon Galgut's fifth novel.[1][2] It was written in 2003 and first published in the Unites States.[3] It focuses on one doctor's struggle with his conscience in a rural hospital in post-apartheid South Africa.[4][5] The Good Doctor was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2003.
