Route description
KY 209 begins at an intersection with U.S. Route 60 (US 60) and KY 182 north-northeast of Counts Crossroads, within Carter County. It travels to the northwest and curves to the north-northeast. Then, it curves to the north-northwest and travels through the southwestern part of the Cascade Caverns section of the Carter Caves State Resort Park. When it leaves the park, it travels along the extreme western edge of the park. It curves back to the north-northwest and enters the park proper. The highway curves to the east-northeast and then to the southeast, where they meet the main entrance to the park. It heads to the east, leaves the park, and meets its northern terminus, a second intersection with KY 182 (Carter Caves Road).[1]
