Hendrina is a settlement in Nkangala District Municipality in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. It was named after Hendrien. Town is 53km north-west of Ermelo, 40km west-south-west of Carolina and 53km south-east of Middelburg.

History

It was founded in 1914 on the farm Grasfontein, administered by a health committee from 1919, and by a village council since 1926. It was named after Hendrina Beukes, wife of Gert Beukes, who owned the farm.[2]

Economy

Two of Eskom's largest power station's, Arnot and Hendrina, are in the area. There are also coal mines nearby. Diversified farming is practiced, including dairy, beans, potatoes, and maize.
