Vinkivtsi (Ukrainian: Віньківці) is an urban-type settlement in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast in western Ukraine.[1] It serves as the administrative center of the Vinkivtsi Raion (district), housing the district's local administration buildings. The town's population was 6,937 as of the 2001 Ukrainian Census[1] and 6,473 in 2011.[3]
The settlement was first founded in 1493. In 1927, it was renamed Zatonsk (Ukrainian: Затонськ) in honor of Volodymyr Zatonsky, a member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR.[4] It received the status of an urban-type settlement in 1957.[1]
