Andrew Jack (censor)

Andrew Jack was the Chief Censor of New Zealand. He was appointed to this position in 2011. In 2017 he was succeeded by David Shanks, who is the current Chief Censor of New Zealand.

Jack was born in Howick, Auckland. He attended Pakuranga College and the University of Auckland, eventually earning five degrees in classics, Greek, and law.

Prior to becoming Chief Censor, Jack had been a legal advisor at the New Zealand Customs Service and at the New Zealand Police. His term as Chief Censor began on 7 March 2011, succeeding Bill Hastings, who resigned to become a judge of the District Courts.
