32°27′28.4″N 35°01′13.1″E / 32.457889°N 35.020306°E / 32.457889; 35.020306 Givat Haviva International School (GHIS) (Hebrew: בית הספר הבינלאומי גבעת חביבה) is a two-year International Baccalaureate-accredited coeducational secondary boarding school.[1] in Northern Israel dedicated to building a peaceful and prosperous future in the Middle East and beyond.[2] The school currently serves 106 students representing over 25 nationalities and is located on the campus of Givat Haviva, a peace-building organization that has received the UNESCO Peace Prize.[3]

Administration

The school's current director is Israeli educator and conductor Yuval Dvir.[4]

Events

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The student body was invited to attend a meeting with Yuval Rotem, the Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and visited the ministry in Jerusalem on 23 January 2019.[5]

Austrian state visit

On 6 February 2019, Austrian president Alexander van der Bellen visited GHIS as part of a state visit to Israel.[6] Van der Bellen was accompanied by a delegation of journalists and prominent Austrians including his military attaché Thomas Starlinger [de] and Martin Weiss, the Austrian ambassador to Israel.[7]
