Hell of Excrement, (屎糞所, shifunsho, "place of excrement"), one of the sixteen lesser hells depicted in the Japanese Hell Scroll (地獄草紙, jigokuzōji), probably commissioned by Emperor Goshirakawa in the 12th century and originally stored in Rengeō-in, a Kyoto temple. [1]
