The Complete Idiot's Guide to Publishing Science Fiction (2001) by Cory Doctorow and Karl Schroeder was published as part of The Complete Idiot's Guide series of non-fiction manuals released by Alpha Books. It was the first non-fiction book by Doctorow, a novelist.[1]
Description
Written by a minor proponent of the genre, the purpose of the book is to assist readers to understand the basics of becoming a science fiction author. It describes the various subgenres, writing techniques, and what is entailed with authoring such a piece. Then it describes the publishing business starting with agents, contracts and publishers.
Reception
SFRevu, in its review, wrote that "the road to publication would be made considerably smoother by the information in this book."[2]
