Charles Chree Doig (1855-1918) trained as an architect and is most famous for his Doig Ventilator, more commonly known as a pagoda, that is used to improve the efficiency of distilleries by drawing off peat smoke in the malting process.

Doig is credited with designing 56 Scotch whisky distilleries including Balblair, Dufftown, Pulteney, Speyburn and Aberlour.
