Dogtown, El Dorado County, California
Dogtown is a former settlement and mining camp in El Dorado County, California.[1] It was located 0.5 miles (0.80 km) northeast of Newtown.[1]
A reference to the town can be found in the Mountain Democrat newspaper, in which Jake Schneider of Pleasant Valley moved to Dogtown in order to open a butcher shop.[2]
The town was eventually purchased in whole by the California Door Company and renamed "Caldor."
The town, located approximately 7 miles from Grizzly Flat, is not to be confused with "Dog Town," which was located near Newtown.[3]
