The Gecarcinucidae are a family of true freshwater crabs.[2] The family Parathelphusidae is now demoted to the rank of subfamily, as the Parathelphusinae, within the Gecarcinucidae.[3] "Family" Parathelphusidae is now considered as a junior synonym.[4]
