Tallahassee 7000 is a 1961 American TV series starring Walter Matthau Special Agent Lex Rogers of the Florida Sheriff's Bureau.[1] It consisted of 26 episodes of 30 minutes each.[2] It was executive produced by Herbert Leonard.

It was shot on location in Florida and was made directly for syndication by Screen Gems. There were several such shows from this period, others including Everglades, Beachcomber and Miami Undercover.[3] Herbert Leonard was executive producer. Matthau disliked television and says he took the job "only for the minor inconvenience of making a living."[4]

While making the show in Florida, Matthau reportedly lost $138,000 betting on spring training in baseball.[5]

Matthau's biographers called it "another Matthau career nadir."[6]
