Willem Jacob 'Boela' Serfontein (born 16 September 1988) is a South African rugby union footballer who last played for the Template:Rut Griffons in Currie Cup rugby. He plays mostly as a lock.

Career

He represents Template:Rut Free State Cheetahs in the Currie Cup and Vodacom Cup having previously played for the Template:Rut Blue Bulls, the Template:Rut Pumas and Template:Rut Griquas.

After spending four seasons with the Template:Rut Pumas – making 62 appearances - he joined Template:Rut Griquas for the 2014 season.[1]

He made his Super Rugby debut for the Template:Rut Cheetahs in Bloemfontein against the Template:Rut Force on 10 May 2014, coming on midway through the second half.[2]

In August 2014, it was announced that he would make join the Template:Rut Free State Cheetahs from 2015 onwards.[3]

Personal

He is the older brother of Template:Rut Blue Bulls and South Africa centre Jan Serfontein.[4] His father Boelie was also a provincial rugby player, playing as a number eight for Template:Rut Eastern Province, and his grandfather was Jack Slater, a former Springbok winger.[5]
