Club career

AFC Bournemouth

Simpson joined AFC Bournemouth at the age of twelve[4] and signed his first professional contract in April 2015.[5] Following this, Simpson enjoyed a brief loan spell at non-league side AFC Totton during the early stages of the 2015–16 campaign[6] before returning to the Cherries to appear as a substitute in their FA Cup fourth round tie against Portsmouth.[7]

Almost two years on after first appearing in a Bournemouth matchday squad, Simpson finally made his first-team debut in their EFL Cup tie against Middlesbrough, scoring the opener in the 3–1 victory.[8] Following his impressive debut, Simpson went onto feature in Bournemouth's quarter-final tie against Premier League champions, Chelsea, in which he featured for the full 90 minutes in the 2–1 defeat.[9]
