Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev has served as the Agriculture Minister in the Government of Turkmenistan since Turkmenbashi Saparmurat Niyazov appointed him on 25 January 2006. Minister Orazgeldiyev replaced Begenc Atamyradov, who Niyazov fired for "grave shortcomings" in his performance. Niyazov said, "We are making big investments in the agrarian sector, which amount to billions of [dollars], but there is no sign of efficiency." Orazgeldiyev previously worked as the rector of Asgabat Agrarian University.[1]
