The Hexacentrinae, are a subfamily of predatory bush crickets or katydids. The type genus is Hexacentrus, which are also known as balloon-winged katydids.[2][3] The group has sometimes been treated as a tribe (as "Hexacentrini") within Conocephalinae, which may be a sister group.[2][1] Members of this subfamily have lobules on the male paraprocts.[1] Most of them also have a flat, wide hind lobe of the pronotum.[1]

Distribution

Many species are Asian or African in origin, but genera in the tribes Ecuanedubini and Nubimystrigini are South American.[2]

Genera
