Chink is a word with two distinct and different extant uses. One is a word to denote a narrow or slight opening, especially one through which light may be visible, as in ‘a chink in the wall’ or as an area or site of vulnerability, e.g., ‘chink in one’s armor’. The second, commonly disfavored usage, is as a pejorative term for a person of Chinese descent.
