The Halothiobacillaceae are a family of halotolerant, mesophilic, and obligate chemolithoautotrophic organisms in the Chromatiales comprising the genus Halothiobacillus.[1] It is closely related to the family Thioalkalibacteraceae of halophilic obligate autotrophs with distinct morphological and genomic features.[2]
