The Konica AR camera lens mount was introduced in 1965 with the Konica Autoreflex (Autorex in Japan market), together with a range of lenses. It features a comparably short flange focal distance of 40.50 mm for a 35 mm film SLR camera. Konica produced cameras for Konica AR bayonet until 1988.
