Página Siete is a daily newspaper published in La Paz, Bolivia.[1] Founded on 24 April 2010, it is one of the most influential newspapers in Bolivia.[2] Página Siete focuses on politics and economics, but it also has social and culture sections. Its independent and critical approach has gained several complains by the Evo Morales administration, leading to accusations of censorship of the press. [3]It was founded by Raúl Peñaranda, a well known Bolivian journalist.[citation needed] After him, Juan Carlos Salazar was appointed as editor until December 2016, when Isabel Mercado assumed the post. [citation needed]

In 2012, President Morales ordered a criminal trial against the newspaper. [citation needed] In 2013, the then director, Raúl Peñaranda, was resigned, citing the continuing attacks from the government, stating "The Government is resuming a cowardly attack on Página Siete, a low attack, a vile attack on us because we are an independent newspaper".[4]
