Michael Phelan (born 3 August 1967), from Glenmore, County Kilkenny, Ireland, is a former inter-county hurler. Phelan was formally recognised as a sportsperson of national significance in 1992 when nominated as a GAA Allstar.[1] He played both for his local club Glenmore and as a member of the Kilkenny senior inter-county team for over a decade in the 1980s and 1990s. Phelan, playing mid-field, although he "mastered [his] opponents in the first half", narrowly missed out on an All-Ireland senior medal in 1991 when Tipperary beat Kilkenny by four points.[2]

Phelan began his inter-county coaching career as manager of the Wicklow senior hurling team for the 2009 season.[3] He has since moved to Danesfort CLG which plays at intermediate grade in Kilkenny.
