The 1956 UC Riverside Highlanders football team represented UC Riverside during the 1956 NCAA College Division football season. The Highlanders competed as an independent in 1956.

UC Riverside was led by first-year head coach Carl Selin. They played home games at UCR Athletic Field in Riverside, California. The Highlanders finished the season with a record of one win and six losses (1–6). Overall, the team was outscored by its opponents 44–251 for the season.
