Stephen Charles "Charlie" Jones (13 October 1965, Bristol, England) is a British bassist, songwriter and record producer. He has toured and recorded with Robert Plant,[1] Page and Plant, Strange Sensation, Goldfrapp, Siouxsie Sioux and many others.

Career

Jones started playing electric and double bass at a young age. Prior to joining Robert Plant, and later with Page and Plant, Jones was a member of Violent Blue with session guitarist Neil Taylor. Jones received a Grammy Award in 2009 as a co-writer of the song "Please Read the Letter" from the album Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.

Jones has toured and recorded playing both electric and double bass, but is most associated with playing a clear acrylic bass. He is currently the bassist for Goldfrapp, and also works as a session musician, producer and composer. On 16 September 2013, Jones released his debut solo album Love Form through Stranger Records which highlighted his jazz and classical influences.

Personal life

Jones is married to Robert Plant's daughter, Carmen Jane Plant.
