Margaret Paulin Young (4 December 1864 – 15 January 1953) was a Scottish headmistress. She attended and was later head of the Park School for Girls in Glasgow where she introduced classes on art and science.
Life
Young was born in Lilliesleaf in what is now the Scottish Borders. Her father, the Revd William Langlands Young was the United Presbyterian minister there starting in 1857. Her mother was Margaret Brown Paulin.[1]
Young attended as a founding pupil, became head girl and was later groomed for, and became the head teacher of the Park School in Glasgow. She trained at the Training College for Teachers in Middle and Higher Schools for Girls in London[1] and she was groomed to head of the Park School by Georgina Kinnear.[2]
She modernised the school introducing dedicated classes in science and art. The school grew under her leadership. She retired in 1929.[1]
Young died in Hillhead in 1953.[1]
