Eugene "Gene" Howard Clapp, III (born November 19, 1949) is an American rower who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics, winning the silver medal in the men's eight event. During his training, he was affiliated with the Vesper Boat Club.[1]

He was born in Brookline, Massachusetts and is the older brother of Charles Clapp. Gene Clapp graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1972 where he was a member of St. Anthony Hall.
