Mahinda Vilathgamuwa is a professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia.

After receiving his education from Nalanda College Colombo Vilathgamuwa entered University of Moratuwa and graduated with a Bachelor of Science BSc in Electrical Engineering with Honours in 1984.[citation needed]

In 1985 Vilathgamuwa started his academic career as an assistant lecturer at University of Moratuwa.[citation needed] Later after obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of Cambridge, England he became a senior lecturer at the same university.[citation needed]

Since 1993 Vilathgamuwa served as an academic in the capacities of lecturer, assistant professor and associate professor at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.[citation needed]

Professor Vilathgamuwa is also a fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.[1]
