Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur were the defending champions, but did not participate in this year's event.

Cara Black and Liezel Huber won the title, defeating Katarina Srebotnik and Ai Sugiyama in the final 5–7, 6–3, [10–8].

This was the first WTA Tour Championships doubles tournament to utilise the super tiebreak in the third set, as opposed to a conventional third set.
