The 1987 Nicholls State Colonels football team represented Nicholls State University in the 1987 NCAA Division I-AA football season. The Colonels were led by first-year head coach Phil Greco. They played their home games at John L. Guidry Stadium and were an NCAA Division I-AA Independent. They finished the season 5–5–1.

Previous season

The Colonels finished the season 10–3, 2–2 in Gulf Star Conference play.[1]
