The 2020 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team will represent the Georgia Institute of Technology during the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Yellow Jackets will be led by second-year head coach Geoff Collins. They will play their home games at Bobby Dodd Stadium and will compete as a member of the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

Previous season

The Yellow Jackets finished the 2019 season with a 3–9 record, 2–6 in ACC play, failing to earn bowl eligibility.

Preseason

Death of Bryce Gowdy

On December 30, 2019, Georgia Tech signee Bryce Gowdy, from Deerfield Beach, Florida, committed suicide by walking in front of a freight train.^[1]^[2] He died aged 17 and had received a full scholarship to play football at Georgia Tech, having signed on December 18.^[3]

ACC media poll

The ACC media days will be held on July 17-18, 2020 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Schedule

Spring game

The Yellow Jackets held spring practices until early March, when the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic forced the suspension of all NCAA activities. The Georgia Tech football spring game was scheduled to take place in Atlanta, GA on April 10, 2020, but was also cancelled.

Regular season

Georgia Tech released its 2020 schedule on October 3, 2019. The 2020 schedule consists of 7 home games, one of which will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and 5 away games in the regular season. The Yellow Jackets will host 3 non-conference games against Gardner–Webb, UCF, and Notre Dame and travel to Georgia for their regular season finale. Georgia Tech will host Clemson, Virginia, Duke, and Miami and travel to North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse in regular season conference play.
