James Richard "J. R." Malone (October 15, 1858 – November 11, 1935) was a professional baseball umpire.

Malone umpired three American Association games in 1888, as the home plate umpire.[1] He died in Baltimore and is buried in Lot 697, Section TT in New Cathedral Cemetery in Baltimore.[2] He was the father of Major Leaguer Lew Malone.[3]
