On 30 June 1938, the members of the 10th Dáil met for the first time. Éamon de Valera was appointed as Taoiseach by the president on the nomination of the Dáil. He proposed the members of the 2nd Government of Ireland, a single-party Fianna Fáil government, and they were approved by Dáil Éireann for appointment by the president. De Valera later appointed the Parliamentary Secretaries.[1]
