Pavana Ganga (Kannada: ಪಾವನಗಂಗಾ) is a 1977 Kannada film directed by Y. R. Swamy[1] and produced by C. Jayaram. It is based on the novel of the same name by Krishnamoorthy Puranik.[2] The film starred Srinath, Aarathi and Ashok in lead roles.[3]
The film was a musical blockbuster with all the songs composed by Rajan-Nagendra considered evergreen hits.Acting of arati was critically and classically praised by critics.this movie made arati as highest paid actors. The acting of arati in this movie is still in hearts of many kannadigas and the role she played is still inspiration for many selfless people's she was considered as lady superstar and the heroine who can even make the movie Blockbuster only with her solo acting skills
Plot
Ganga is a village girl who runs away with her brother Narsimha because of her aunt mistreating her. She comes to Bangalore in search of a job and after several years she falls in love with Annayya (Srinath) Narsimha's friend. Narsimsha marries Yamuna a rich businessman's daughter. Yamuna does not like Ganga's interference in her married life. Will Ganga leave her brother's house or stay? Watch this movie to know more.
Trivia: Aarathi and Ashok who acted as brother-sister in this movie went on to become a popular romantic pair later and were rumored to have even had a real life affair.
