Giuseppe Filippi (born 17 March 1945), is an Italian-born Roman Catholic priest who serves as the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kotido, since 17 August 2009.[1]

Background and priesthood

Filippi was born on 17 March 1945 in Baselga del Bondone, in the city of Trento, in Italy. On 28 April 1977, he took the vows as a member of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus (MCCI). On 26 January 1978, he was ordained a priest at San Vigilio Cathedral, in the Archdiocese of Trento, in Trento, Italy, by Archbishop Alessandro Maria Gottardi†, Archbishop of Trento.[1]

As bishop

Filippi was appointed Bishop of Kotido on 17 August 2009 and was consecrated a bishop on 19 December 2009, by Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, Archbishop of Kampala, assisted by Archbishop Denis Kiwanuka Lote, Archbishop of Tororo and Bishop Giuseppe Franzelli, MCCI, Bishop of Lira.[1]
