Gulnara Shahinian, an Armenian expert on human trafficking,[1] is a diplomat and author. Shahinian is a member of the Group of Experts on Action Against Trafficking in Human Beings and the former United Nations Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Slavery[2] from 2006 until 2014.[3]

She earned a degree in international law from the Saint Petersburg Institute of International Relations and one in English and Russian Linguistics from Yerevan State University. [2]
