Chandanada Gombe (Kannada: ಚಂದನದ ಗೊಂಬೆ Eng : Doll of Sandalwood) is a 1979 Indian Kannada film directed by Dorai-Bhagavan, and is based on the novel of the same name written by T. R. Subba Rao.[1] The film stars Anant Nag, Lakshmi and Lokesh in lead roles. It was a musical blockbuster with all the songs composed by Rajan–Nagendra considered evergreen hits.[2] Chandanada Gombe repeated the success of the earlier movie Na Ninna Bidalaare where Anant Nag and Lakshmi acted together for the first time. The success of the movie made Anant Nag and Lakshmi as a household name across Karnataka. The film was remade in Telugu as Ramapuramlo Seetha starring Sujatha in the title role.[3]

Plot

Chandanada Gombe is a love story which reveal between Anat Nag and Lakshmi. Anant Nag is a shanbog . Lakshmi's father is a school teacher who is struggling to find a bridegroom for Lakshmi. On the way to a village, he takes rest in Anant Nag's relative home where he discusses the problem of finding a boy for Laksmhi. The Anant Nag's relatives visits Lakshmi home and decides to marry Lakshmi for Anant Nag. They both get married and in an accident Anant Nag dies. The rest of the story continues about the life of a struggling widow along with her child.
