David Bruce MacPherson (July 24, 1940 – December 21, 2017) was the third bishop of the Diocese of Western Louisiana in The Episcopal Church.[1][2][3]

He was a member of Communion Partners,[4][5] an organization of Episcopal Church bishops, dioceses, clergy, parishes and lay people which seeks to "maintain and strengthen" ties to the Anglican communion and "fidelity to the canons, integreities and realities of the Episcopal Church."[6] In 2015 at the 78th General Convention, Bishop MacPherson was among those who opposed changing the canons and liturgies of the Episcopal Church to allow any two people to marry. This canon replaced the traditional understanding of marriage: a covenant between a man and a woman.[7] That marriage is reserved for a man and a woman is the understanding of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer.[8]
