Amita Suman (born 19 July 1997)[citation needed] is a Nepali-born actress. She is known for portraying the role of Naya in the CW fantasy series The Outpost. She is also set to star as Inej Ghafa in the upcoming Netflix series Shadow and Bone.

Early life

Suman moved to Brighton, England from Nepal when she was 7. Amita attended Sussex Downs College before going on to train at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA), graduating in 2018.[1][2]

Career

Shortly after graduating, Suman made her television debut with minor roles in Casualty and Ackley Bridge.[3][4][5] She landed a major guest role in Doctor Who series 11 episode "Demons of the Punjab" as a young version of companion Yasmin Khan's grandmother, Umbreen.[6] Suman took over the recurring role of Naya from Medalion Rahimi in Season 2 of CW series The Outpost.[7] In October 2019, it was announced Suman would star as Inej Ghafa in upcoming Netflix series Shadow and Bone, an adaptation of fantasy book series The Grisha Trilogy and the Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo.[8]
