Marita Hakala
Marita Hakala (born 10 November 1968) is a Finnish fashion model,[1] who worked in many countries' top agencies as a high fashion model. She started her career in Milan, Italy, and her first booking was with Blumarine, a high-end fashion house.
After her active international modeling career, Hakala wrote[2] TV format Mallikoulu (Model School) based on her experiences in the modeling world as a shy Finnish girl. The show was aired on Finland's main broadcasting channel MTV3[3] on Fridays at prime time during 2005 and 2006. The winner of the first season was Suvi Koponen[4] (Suvi Riggs), who was then a 16-year-old schoolgirl and is now a world-renowned supermodel.
Marita Hakala is known for her multifaceted experience in the fashion modeling business, and especially her skills to scout and mentor new model talents. She is the owner of an international Model and Talent Agency Casting House Inc. in Helsinki, Finland, founded in 2006.
Hakala has been part of several Finnish TV programs and fashion related events.[5]
In 2014, Hakala moved to Los Angeles.[6] She is now working as a freelance entertainment reporter and writer for Finnish press, TV, and internet sites. She also still works as a model part-time.
