John Morgan Wilson, born in Tampa, Florida, in the United States, is a journalist and a writer of detective novels. He is known for his series of detective novels featuring the gay journalist, Benjamin Justice. He won three Lambda Literary Awards with this series and the Edgar Award for Best First Novel in 1997.
Biography
John Morgan Wilson grew up in Southern California. He began to write for newspapers at the age of 19. He graduated with a degree in Journalism from the San Diego State University. He became a police reporter with the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner, then an assistant editor for the Los Angeles Times[1]. He also worked as a journalist in independent media. He wrote his first novel at the age of fifty.[2]
He is best known for writing the series of detective novels featuring the gay reporter Benjamin Justice, set in Los Angeles. He won the Edgar Award in 1997 for Best First Novel with Simple Justice and thereafter won three Lambda Literary Awards for his detective novels.
He also authored two collections of stories with American pianist and singer Peter Duchin.
