Nadia Bukhari is a British pharmacist of Pakistani origin and is the youngest female Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society; an honour bestowed to those who have achieved excellence and distinction in their pharmacy career.[1] In addition, she has been elected onto the National Pharmacy Board for England, making her the first female Muslim and first female of Pakistani origin to be a Board member.[2]

Career

Bukhari started her professional career as a pharmacy manager at Westbury Chemist in Steatham. She then moved on to work for Bart's and the London NHS Trust, London as a clinical pharmacist for the surgical and musculoskeletal directorate. She then moved on to academia; her area of research is pharmacy and leadership.[3] She is also an author and has authored various titles with the Pharmaceutical Press.[4]

Bukhari is a mentor for students globally[5] and is also an advisor to the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association

In 2015, Bukhari was awarded the status of Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society for her excellence and contributions towards the profession. She is the youngest female, youngest Asian and youngest Muslim woman to be awarded this accolade.[6][7] In 2017, she was elected onto the National Pharmacy Board for England making her the first Muslim female and first female of Pakistani origin to be elected.[8]

Philanthropy

Bukhari is the ambassador for Pakistan Girls' Education charity, supported by the Government of Pakistan.[9]

Media

Bukhari educates the public on the role of pharmacists, particularly minority groups. She presented a TV series on the Islam Channel called ‘Health is Wealth’.[10][11]
