Career

Sanam hails from Bangalore and currently resides in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She is fluent in all the South Indian languages and considers that as an advantage for her acting career.[2][2] She has been a popular name in South modeling circuit having endorsed most of the reputed textiles and Jewellery brands in the South. Sanam is the face of Preethi Kitchenware company for the past 2 years.[3] She is the current title-holder of Miss South India 2016. Initially a first runner-up, she became Miss South India 2016 after the previous title holder Meera Mithun was revoked of the title due to fraudulent activities.[2] While in the UK, she experimented acting in a Sri Lankan documentary when she realized her love for acting. Thanks to her successful modeling stint she received good offers to act in films. Eventually, she landed in Chennai to test acting.[3]

Sanam's first film was Ambuli, an experimental film, which was also the first stereoscopic Tamil film, with actor-director R Parthiepan, after which she did Cinema Company in Malayalam.[2][3] Sanam was to make her debut in Telugu films with K Raghavendra Rao's Intinta Anamayya. Her role in the film was that of an NRI rock star with a very modern outlook.[1] Intinta Anamayya was never released.[4] Her next releases were the Tamil film Maayai by J R Kannan,[5] and the Malayalam films Ravu directed by Ajith Ravi Pegasus,[6] and Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus in which she was paired opposite Mammootty.[7]

She went on to sign several Tamil projects, including Kalaivendhan, in which she was said to play a dual role,[7] a heroine-oriented action film by Aabavanan, in which Sanam was to play a Black Belt Kung Fu expert,[8] Katham Katham, directed by Babu Thooyavan, and Vilasam.[9][10] Tamil films released in 2016 are, Sawaari [11] and Vellaya Irukkaravan Poi Solla Maataan, which featured her as an NRI wife,[12] and the Telugu film Srimanthudu, her big project in Telugu.[4] She has had her 1st Kannada film Atharva's release in July 2018. In Tamil, Sanam is currently acting and producing an action thriller film titled Magie.[12]
