Câu lạc bộ Bóng đá Sài Gòn, simply known as Sài Gòn, is an association football club owned by Saigon Football Development Joint Stock Company. The club was founded in 2011 as Hà Nội F.C. and relocated in 2016 to Ho Chi Minh City.

Foundation

The club was founded in 2011 as the youth squad for V.League 1 side Hà Nội T&T. Under the parent club, Hà Nội FC was not allowed to be promoted to the V.League 1 following the 2012 season when the club finished second, due to league rules that clubs owned by the same parent company cannot play in the same league.

Following the 2013 season, Hà Nội T&T sold the club to Quang Huy Plastics Joint Stock Company. Though the club is no longer owned by Hà Nội T&T, the partnership between the clubs remains the same, with the V.League 1 club loaning some of their players to the club.

In April 2016, the club was renamed Sài Gòn F.C. and relocated to Ho Chi Minh City.[1]
