Burro Island (Spanish: Isla del Burro,[1] also known as Tacarigua Island)[2] is the name of an island belonging to Venezuela, located in the waters of Valencia Lake, is the largest of the 22 islands that are in this mass of water. At the center north of the South American country . Administratively it is part of Guacara municipality in the central Venezuelan state of Carabobo . It has an old building that was used as a prison for many years in the twentieth century, but it was closed to other uses in the 1980s. The island covers approximately 247 hectares. (equivalent to 2.47 km2).
